Last month, I wrote about touch..touching your spouse or life partner, your friends, even acquaintances. A colleague asked me recently, Faye, do you touch your clients? I looked at her and smiled, and responded, "Yes, but only in the most appropriate way." So, what is appropriate in a counseling session would not necesarilly be appropriate in your workplace.
Among my colleagues, we are familiar with TT, which stands for Therapeutic touch. It can be non-physical touching and/or there can be gentle physical contact. The intent is to transmit a type of "energy" from the therapist to their client and vice-versa. Can anyone do TT? I would say, yes; however, I would stress that it requires positive intention and compassion.
You can read more about it, online, if you are interested.
